ABOUT

About Children's IQ Test

A cognitive assessment designed by people who understand psychometric frameworks, offered as an educational resource rather than a clinical tool.

What We Built

Children's IQ Test is a visual reasoning assessment for children ages 4–18. It measures four cognitive domains — Pattern Recognition (fluid reasoning), Visual Puzzles (visual-spatial processing), Picture Logic (inductive reasoning), and Number Sense (quantitative reasoning) — across 102 questions organized into three age-appropriate tiers.

The cognitive framework is drawn from the Cattell-Horn-Carroll (CHC) model, which underpins the Stanford-Binet (SB5), WISC-V, Woodcock-Johnson IV, and most modern intelligence research. The question formats — matrix completion, mental rotation, visual analogies, balance-scale reasoning — are standard types used across cognitive assessment.

Every question is a picture, a pattern, or a visual puzzle. There are no word problems and no reading requirements for younger children. This makes the assessment accessible across reading levels and language backgrounds, and keeps the focus where it belongs: on reasoning, not language.

Why We Built It

Professional cognitive assessments — the kind administered by psychologists — cost hundreds of dollars and require trained professionals to administer. This puts meaningful cognitive insight out of reach for most families. Meanwhile, the "free IQ tests" available online tend to be shallow entertainment with little connection to actual cognitive science.

We wanted something in between: an assessment built on real psychometric frameworks, using standard question formats, with age-appropriate calibration — offered free and accessible to anyone. Not a clinical instrument, but a genuine tool for parents and educators who want to understand how their children think.

The free online assessment gives families immediate access to meaningful cognitive profiling. The optional Practice Book PDF goes deeper with detailed answer explanations, a comprehensive parent guide, and development activities — creating a complete educational resource.

Our Approach

🎨

Fully Visual

Every question is a picture puzzle — no reading, no word problems, no language bias. Accessible to children regardless of reading level or first language.

🎯

Age-Calibrated

Three tiers calibrated to developmental stage. Your child takes only the tier designed for their age, with difficulty and expectations matched accordingly.

💝

Growth-Focused

Designed to surface cognitive profiles, not assign labels. Strengths and growth areas are equally valuable — they tell parents and educators how a child thinks, not how much they're worth.

Privacy & Safety

We build for children, so privacy isn't optional. We follow COPPA guidelines, collect only the minimum information needed to administer the test, and never share, sell, or monetize children's data. Test sessions are automatically deleted after 30 days.

For details, see our Privacy Policy.
